Business Development Manager - Oceans and Atmosphere

• Develop, manage and maintain a portfolio of commercial relationships
• Work with clients and internal stakeholders to identify strategic BD opportunities & close complex deals

You will work with clients and internal stakeholders to identify strategic BD opportunities and close complex deals. You will also have significant input into the development of the Business Unit BD strategy and plans and be responsible for providing input to the management of its software and model register: execution of the plans in assigned areas; proactively monitoring and driving performance improvement against the plan objectives.

Your duties will include:
•Develop or manage and maintain a portfolio of commercial relationships aligned to the Business Unit strategy and plans with multiple touch points within the client organisation.
•Provide advice in the structuring and drafting of software and data licensing deals, and fee payment structures.
•Assist in providing advice on copyright law, in particular model and software code development. 
•Proactively create a portfolio of ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with strategic clients, partners, and key internal stakeholders to drive BD activities and achieve objectives.
•Assist in development of strategic commercial plans incorporating insight into industry, market needs and opportunities, effectively utilising available business and market information.
•Plan and lead the development of complex bids and negotiate with clients to close high quality deals in collaboration with internal support functions.
•Utilising internal networks, a demonstrated ability to build and lead transaction teams to close large complex deals.

Location: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra
Salary: $106K to $124K plus up to 15.4% superannuation pro-rata
Term: Indefinite/Ongoing

To be successful you will have:
•A tertiary qualification in a relevant area, as well 3+ years working in a similar role, preferably in a large and complex organisation.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, evidenced by high-level reporting, presentation and negotiation abilities, and the capacity to identify and influence critical stakeholders to gain support for contentious proposals/ideas.
•Demonstrated knowledge in the area of copyright law, in particular model and software code development. 
•Demonstrated understanding of commercial BD principles, negotiation, markets, business and technology trends and issues relevant to the Oceans and Atmosphere.
•Demonstrated ability to develop or manage and maintain, a portfolio of commercial relationships aligned to the Business Unit strategy and plans with multiple touch points within the client organisation.
