Internships at Green Lifestyle
Love writing about the environment and green living? Want to do some of the best jobs in environmental and lifestyle communication? Come intern with us! Get hands-on experience working in a fast-paced publishing environment; you’ll help with researching stories and pictures, writing, editing, designing, fact-checking and more.
Get an inside look at journalism in action from our offices in Sydney's North Shore. Our enthusiastic team provides opportunities for students keen to get some hands-on experience working at an award-winning Australian title, and who want to get a behind-the-scenes view of the publishing industry.
Location: St Leonards, Sydney, NSW.
Details: Interns accepted for 1-2 days per week for a minimum of six weeks and up to a year. We would recommend committing to at least eight to ten weeks to get the most out of your internship.
* Please note that interns are required to have public liability and personal injury insurance. If you are currently attending an accredited tertiary educational institute, this insurance is typically and easily organised through your education provider, at no cost to you.
You can help us research story ideas, write news stories, find pictures and illustrations, fact-check articles, proofread or undertake other tasks that contribute to the creation of Green Lifestyle. Interns even take part in editorial meetings and are encouraged to propose concepts and ideas. Depending on your writing ability, you're likely to end up getting published and learning a range of journalism skills.
Interns are unpaid, but receive a written reference describing their duties and performance during their stay. Not all tasks are glamorous (like fact-checking or admin duties) but they are essential. And yes, we do consider interns from outside Australia who may be visiting the country.
If you are interested, send us a brief email or letter explaining why you would like to work as an intern at Green Lifestyle, and include some background on yourself, a resume and examples of published or unpublished articles.
