Sustainability & Heritage Assistant – Rahamim Ecological Learning Community

This is a great opportunity for the green-fingered to get stuck into a variety of projects. The role includes maintaining St Joseph’s Mount four-hectare property, a dedicated sustainability demonstration site, which is a vital part of the Rahamim Ecological Learning Community. You will also have to look after the chooks, tend the heritage curtilage and gardens of 1870s mansion Logan Brae, coordinate the small organic market garden and ensure the polyhouse, shadehouse and garden beds are productive. If you love horticulture and thrive in an environment that focuses on education and sustainability, this is the role for you. You will need to have a current Work With Children Check and a Driver’s Licence.

Location: Bathurst, NSW.
Working hours: 28 hours per week or 8 days per fortnight.
Salary: $21 per hour.

Organic market garden masterclass

21 – 23 September, 2013
This course is designed for those with some prior gardening experience, who would like to improve their skills with the help of established and successful market gardeners. Joyce Wilkie and Michael Plane teach the nuts and bolts of running a thriving, diverse organic market garden. The mix of theory and hands-on components of gardening will give students the experience they need to make a livelihood from growing great vegetables.
