Are you a tenant who feels powerless to 'green' your rented home because restrictions on permanent fixtures means you can't put up your solar panels? Don't despair- Green Renters is running a whole host of workshops designed to show tenants how they can green their home within the constraints of a tenancy agreement.From energy saving tricks, to eco crafting, to home made bath products, preserves and plant propagation- there's a workshop to suit all interests.

Regular workshops

Green Renters have been running workshops for several years around the country in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart. They are friendly and accessible and can easily be presented in English or alongside an interpreter. Workshops are offered for free, although donations are appreciated. Workshops include:
- Living sustainably in rental accommodation
- Sustainable living in an apartment
- DIY natural cleaning
- Energy Saving
- Eco-crafting 101

Green Renting Expo

This event is a day of information and education for people living in social housing, a cohort who are often excluded from the traditional environment movement. Green Renters show that sustainable living is possible regardless of where you live and offer a day of practical hands-on information to educate participants in helping the planet and themselves. This includes workshops on saving money and reducing your bills in winter, healthy eating on a budget, and gardening in small spaces. Stalls from local Community groups and City of Yarra Council, a free lunch and keynote presentations by The Archi Centre and Sustainability Victoria. This event is made possible through the generous support of the City of Yarra Community Grants Program.

Where: Richmond Town Hall, Bridge Road Richmond, Vic.
When: 11am-3pm, Tuesday 17 May.
