Obama vows to protect marine life

President Barack Obama has just announced a huge plan to protect fragile marine life in the Pacific Ocean. Planning starts immediately; it's thought that more than 780,000 square miles could be set aside – including some areas of Hawaii, where President Obama grew up.

Obama recorded a video message for the “Our Ocean” conference less than 24 hours ago. In the two-minute clip, he outlines the steps his administration would be taking to protect a massive stretch of the Pacific Ocean from drilling, illegal fishing, and other unsustainable practices.

Obama says in the video message; “Let’s make sure that years from now we can look our children in the eye and tell them that, yes, we did our part, we took action, and we led the way toward a safer, more stable world.”
