Today I asked a friend to do a favour for me.
We've got a lovely little coffee-shop on the corner that he visits each day, so I asked him to see if they'd mind if I brought my own mug in to them. I didn't want to show up with my cup only to be refused, so I thought it was better to ask first.
Apparently, the owner is happy to use people's own coffee cups, and has a few semi-regular customers who bring them in. It turns out I didn't have to be shy about it at all, because I'm not the first one to want to do without a disposable cup :)
Next week I'll bring my own mug there when I want a nice coffee instead of my own instant brew.
Has anyone else had an experience where they met with more support than they expected?
