The Winter Solstice Festival is always an event to remember and an opportunity to collectively let go of unwanted energy, to welcome new positive futures for us all and celebrate together as community.

A brief history of the Winter Solstice

The celebration of the Winter Solstice is a midwinter event, marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year. In many cultures the midwinter festival was the last feast before the deep winter. Ancient cultures across the world have marked the rebirth of sunlight after the darkest period of the year through ceremony. It is a symbolic opportunity to recognise rebirth and new beginnings.

The Winter Solstice Festival at Northey Street City Farm has always been an invitation to join in community, reflect, reconnect and renew, in celebration and ceremony. To consider what no longer serves us, what we wish to let go, and what we would like to take forward into the new sun’s phase of the year.

Entry is Free! Gold Coin donation appreciated.

We will be seeking donations to help us run the event and keep Northey Street City Farm going. Please bring a gold coin donation for entry and spare change to go in the draw for some great lucky door prizes if you can afford to.

The Winter Solstice Festival is a Drug and Alcohol Free event. Perfect for the whole family. :)
