Senior Environmental Ecological Consultant

Our Newcastle team is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Environmental Ecological Consultant on a permanent basis with a significant ecological planning and approvals background. You will be responsible for delivering environmental ecological impact assessments and approvals related work on major development, infrastructure and petroleum projects , urban growth residential projects , including client and project management, initiating and implementing business development and preparing tenders. We will be considering applicants who can demonstrate high level expertise across a range of environmental ecological disciplines which may include impact assessments, environmental approvals, environmental management and implementation, auditing, and stakeholder regulatory liaison. Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be highly regarded. We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate 8+ years experience in environmental science or related discipline.

•Possess an in-depth knowledge of relevant NSW State and Commonwealth legislation.

•Demonstrated project management skills and experience working on major projects.

•Ability to deliver and/or direct projects within time and budget expectations.

•Client management and liaison.

•Developing and reviewing proposal submissions.

•Work with multi-disciplinary teams to manage projects and tenders.

•Identify business development opportunities.

•Seek and secure new work opportunities.

•Undertaking/leading field work in all possible terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

•Provide sound scientifically and legislatively qualified advice to our clients for statutory compliances.

•Work with the local marketing and ecology team to engage with and deliver services as required.
•Biobanking and biocertification Assessor Accreditation is highly desirable.

•Demonstrable high level botanical skills ie identification, vegetation community mapping etc.

•A degree in Environmental Management (or equivalent) OR a degree in Ecology (or equivalent).

•Strong previous experience working in a consultancy (ideally in NSW or Newcastle / Hunter region).

•Must have extensive knowledge of environmental laws in NSW and environmental issues.

•Superior project Management skills, Report Writing skills, and Client Liaison skills.

•Superior field skills and the ability to mentor other staff members in various field survey techniques.

•Demonstrated commercial acumen.

•Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internal and external.

•An open NSW driver's licence.

•Flexibility to undertake work as required.
