Senior Environment Officer - Marrickville Council - to $83K + Super

•Temporary (mat leave) full time up to June 2016
•$74K - $83K pa plus Super
•Access to bonus & RDO

We are looking for someone who has a passion for environmental sustainability and developing innovative educational materials and demonstrations to join Council’s Green Living Centre.

You will develop and coordinate community engagement campaigns that inspire and assist the Green Living Centre’s primary audiences (business and residents in Newtown, Enmore and Erskineville), to take action and reduce carbon emissions as well as overseeing the Green Living Centre’s shopfront and its promotion as a local hub for Low Carbon Living.

Some aspects of the role include:

•Coordinating the centre’s Low Carbon Living campaigns through the shopfront, communication channels and at local events.
•Developing targeted and visually appealing communication materials and educational tools
•Scheduling activities and engagements
•Project management including; reporting on budgets, maintaining records, delivering progress & final reports.
•Establish and maintain strategic and local partnerships for the delivery of the Green Living Centre programs.
•Assist with day-to-day running of the centre including; administration, merchandising, overseeing causal staff and managing volunteers
•Providing advice and expertise on local environmental issues.

You will have tertiary qualifications in relevant fields or equivalent industry experience. High level verbal and written communication skills, and be able to demonstrate experience in project management and administration. Knowledge on the sources of Greenhouse Gas emissions and social practices that can reduce emissions are essential, particularly those of energy, transport, food systems, and waste.
