National Environment & Sustainability Officer

A rare and exciting opportunity currently exists for a dedicated and enthusiastic Environment & Sustainability Officer to join SUEZ enviroement’s National Environment, Quality & Safety (EQS) team at our corporate office based in Rhodes.

The National Environment & Sustainability Officer will coordinate environmental reporting requirements and provide support in the development of Environment and Sustainability programs for implementation on a national scale.

As the successful candidate, you will be pro-active in coordinating reporting activities and developing and maintaining internal and external relationships. It will be your responsibility to ensure that SUEZ environment’s Business Units are reporting accurately and on time. You will be able to interpret environmental data and identify reporting deficiencies. The position requires someone who is solutions focused with strong presentational, organisational and computer skills.

Primary Duties
•Compile, analyse & disseminate Environmental Statistical information
•Coordinate, collate and analyse National reporting data to identify and improve Environmental issues across the business units
•Facilitate and actively participate in SITA’s Environment Council
•Provide research into new Environmental requirements and industry statistics
•Respond to requests for Environmental information for tenders and national accounts
•Assist in the support, maintenance and development of the SITA Integrated Management System (SIMS) database
•Provision of specialist environmental advice and guidance to the Business
•Work directly with key internal and external customers to coordinate projects
•Prepare and submit the reporting data to meet NGERS requirements and SE Environmental Reporting

Essential Criteria
•Qualified with a degree or diploma in environment management or related discipline
•Effective analytical skills and attention to detail
•Intermediate level of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Experience in environmental program/ management plan design and implementation
•Knowledge and understanding of the relevant environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines

Desirable Criteria
•Knowledge and understanding of the environmental and sustainability issues associated with the waste industry
•Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory systems applying to NGERS and Clean Energy Legislative Package
•Knowledge and previous experience in management systems and AS4801, ISO14001 and ISO9001.
•Auditing experience highly desired
