Business Journalist – sustainability, green cities

The Fifth Estate, Australia's leading publisher for green business and green cities, now in its seventh year, is looking for a part-time/freelance business journalist, based in Glebe.

Here's your chance to help cover some of the most exciting and relevant content on the planet. The sustainability revolution and urgent need to respond to climate change means everything has to change. There's disruption in investment, finance, stakeholder demands, business models, accounting, metrics and benchmarking.

In our key area of the built environment there are growing demands for clean energy and new delivery models, innovative building design, smarter technology, more effective energy efficiency, more sustainable building materials, better transport and more responsive community and social engagement with stakeholders.

It's a world that's moving fast, full of interesting people, and needing our full attention.

We need a journalist who can help us cover all these issues, big and small, who will love the forensic feature stories as much as the minutiae that makes up the fine grain of change. We will need you to attend industry events, and help create content for or cover our own events and ebooks, plus write everything from briefs, to analysis, features, news and posts on social media.

Ideally you will be a business writer, with a good understanding of finance and investment – fast, accurate and dedicated, with some daily newspaper or newsroom experience.

We are a small outfit, but with a big reach, steady growth and good prospects for the right person.

The job is in a great location, right in the heart of Glebe "Village" in a pleasant co-share work environment.

Please send your CV to and please expect we might take a bit of time to get back to you.
