Some people are born with the power to persuade – and William Kunstler, with his resonant voice and personable nature, was one of those people.

A lawyer with an unhealthy addiction to the most controversial cases, Kunstler fought for civil rights with Martin Luther King Jr and helped instigate public attention for the rights of prison inmates, Vietnam War protestors, the inmates of Attica prison and the American Indian movement. A particularly touching part of the film is the description of when Kunstler is asked to stand up to the federal government at Wounded Knee in South Dakota.

Challenging the American legal system, he also represented rapists and assassins, sometimes putting the safety of his two daughters who made this film, at serious risk.
