Can you believe that this is the first 100 per cent fairtrade and organic instant coffee to hit the Australian shelves?!

In fact, República is Australia's only entirely fairtrade coffee company. The great news is that it's currently available nationally through Coles, Woolworths, Safeway and independent stores, making an ethical, top quality and affordable choice an option for most. Even better, from now until January 8, 2014, Woolies is offering 20 per cent discount on the República instant coffee range.

But for their range of instant coffee, don't be expecting any of that nasty power you might have tried in the past. República's 100% Colombian instant coffee is made from fairtrade, organic, handpicked, high quality Arabica beans. It has a smooth caramel roast taste, and blends beautifully with soy, nut or cow's milk.

The 100% decaffeinated coffee is also pretty special – fairtrade and organic, the Arabica beans are handpicked in Papua New Guinea, where more than 40 per cent of the population rely on coffee for their living. The taste is rich, clean and silky smooth. There's loads of flavour left in the granules after they've been roast treated with no chemicals involved in the Swiss water method used to remove the caffeine.

We were shocked to hear that the instant coffee range placement in Woolies is currently being reviewed, making November and December a critical time for this company. We encourage any of our coffee-drinking readers to try the Colombian and Decaf ranges in the next few weeks, and to share your thoughts with others or at the bottom of this review.

The founder of this Australian-owned, carbon neutral company, Jacqueline Arias, is a
2013 Hall of Fame inductee for the Australian Businesswoman's Network, and the company has been nominated for numerous awards, including BRW's Fast 100 List. We also awarded República the coveted prize for best Food – Product at our annual Green Lifestyle Awards just a few weeks ago.
