Rather than starting the day packed like sardines on the bus to work, G writer Caitlin has dusted off her bike in an effort to participate in Ride to Work Day on October 13.


AMCS social snorkel and dive in Moreton Bay

Calling all divers, snorkellers of South-east Queensland on Saturday 23 October, between 7am and 5pm. Join the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) for a social snorkel or SCUBA dive with wobbegongs, sea turtles and corals. Plus learn more about the campaign to protect our Coral Sea. Reef Check Australia will also be joining in to share some useful skills on how we can monitor the health of our diverse and precious oceans. RSVP by 11 October.

From an informative worm farm display to a solar powered video games trailer, entertaining environmental performers to Q&A booths for mum and dad, this year’s Enviro Expo offers something for everyone.

Australian Green Infrastructure Council Conference

26 October

Australian Green Infrastructure Council’s (AGIC) is developing the world’s first full sustainability rating scheme covering governance, social, environmental and economic factors across the planning, design, construction and operational phases of major infrastructure. The conference, being held as part of the World Congress on Engineering Asset Management, will feature an update on the AGIC rating scheme’s progress, launch of an infrastructure climate change vulnerability guideline, a free online knowledge hub and a handy self-assessable ‘quick check’ to help project teams assess sustainability risks and opportunities while the rating scheme is developed. The keynote speaker is Professor Roger Venables, Managing Director of Crane Environmental and Chief Executive of CEEQUAL in the UK (an environmental assessment and awards scheme that has been applied to AU$24.5 billion worth of infrastructure projects in the UK).
